Measuring Makeability

Parameters to measure makeability:

  1. Amount of text documentation/instructions vs. graphical/diagrams. For example, all IKEA instructions are given using diagrams with none/very little text. This allows them to use the same instructions all over the world (high makeability).
  2. Tools required (screwdrivers, power tools, soldering iron, CNC, 3D Printer)
  3. Amount of programming/coding required to function. (Simple mechanical devices vs. Microcontroller-based cybermechanical systems).
  4. Number of engineering disciplines required to build (electrical, mechanical, materials, structural)
  5. Difficulty of each engineering discipline (can we make this concrete, or is it arbitrary?)

Need to assign some sort of numerical value to each of these. Is it simple addition for some sort of formula?
